Backyard Living Room
When the owners of this house moved into their new house, the front yard had beautiful landscaping, but the back yard was a large expanse of lawn. They love to entertain and spend as much time outside as they can throughout the season, so they had a list in hand of elements they wanted to include in their new yard. On the top of their list was a fireplace and covered area for hanging out with friends. We nestled a fireplace and pavilion into new gardens on one end of the yard, with a view across the yard, providing a panoramic view of the new planting beds that now surround the yard. Tucked around the side of the house, we added a smaller patio that is immersed in the gardenand is the perfect spot for morning coffee or and afternoon book. Finally, we designated a space for the homeowner (an avid gardener) to build her vegetable garden.
